: The Rule’ was off to a record-breaking start at the global box office. The film that had an extended 5-day weekend at the box office, shattered several records globally, one of which included becoming a box office juggernaut in its debut weekend. Directed by Sukumar, the film has grossed over Rs 800 crore worldwide, setting unprecedented benchmarks for Indian cinema.

‘Pushpa 2’ debuted to an explosive response, recording the biggest opening day for an Indian film both domestically and internationally. The momentum continued through the weekend, culminating in the highest-ever opening weekend collection for an Indian film.
The film’s India net earnings for the first three days stood at an estimated Rs 387.95 crore. On Day 4, the movie added another Rs 141.50 crore across all languages, taking its total domestic net to Rs 529.45 crore.
The Hindi dubbed version of Pushpa 2 led the charge, amassing an impressive Rs 85 crore on Sunday alone. This was supported by the film’s huge Hindi version recording the highest occupancy rate on Sunday, with an overall 84.25% audience turnout. Meanwhile, the film’s Telugu version earned an impressive Rs 44 crore, followed by the Tamil dubbed version which earned an estimated Rs 9.5 crore. The Malayalam and Kannada collections were estimated at Rs 1.9 crore and Rs 1.1 crore, respectively.
Including Sunday’s earnings, the total collections for each dubbed version were even more impressive. The Hindi version alone earned an estimated Rs 285.7 crore while the Telugu version came in a close second, earning Rs 198.55 crore. The film recorded a Tamil earning of Rs 31.1 crore while Malayalam and Kannada rounded off the collections at an impressve Rs 10.55 crore and Rs 3.55 crore respectively.
‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ has set new benchmarks globally as well. The film grossed over Rs 800 crore worldwide during its opening weekend, becoming the biggest-ever opening for an Indian film. It also achieved the highest single-day collection at the Hindi box office, netting over Rs 75 crore on Day 4.
Keeping up with the current trend, the film is expected to score a good first-Monday collection. While the movie will see a dip in numbers today, it’s overall total is expected to hit the Rs 870 crore mark. Trade gurus have predicted that the film will likely hit the Rs 1000 crore mark in just its first week. Should the film see a downward trend in the days ahead, it is assured to hit the mark by its second weekend.
In North America, the movie stormed the box office with an estimated $10.50 million (approximately Rs 87 crore) during its extended opening weekend, including Wednesday’s previews. It now ranks as the second-biggest opening weekend of 2024, just behind ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. Globally, ‘Pushpa 2’ has outperformed the Prabhas starrer, to claim the biggest opening weekend for an Indian title this year, with a 4-day overseas collection of $19+ million (approximately Rs 161 crore).

With its historic debut, ‘Pushpa 2’ is expected to cross the Rs 1000 crore mark in its first week. If not, the flm is expected to hit the milestone in its second weekend. According to the film’s production house, the movie, which is a sequel to 2021’s Telugu blockbuster ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, touched Rs 500 crore mark on Saturday, making it the fastest Indian film to hit the milestone. The second part, which was released across the globe on Thursday with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and Malayalam, debuted with a historic box office score of Rs 294 crore gross on day one.
Pushpa 2 broke the opening day record of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan in the Hindi language. It also broke RRR’s Rs 156 crore record to become the biggest domestic opener ever.
Directed by Sukumar, the blockbuster features Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles, alongside Fahadh Faasil, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Sunil Varma, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Rao Ramesh, and Ajay Ghosh in pivotal roles.
