British fighter Tyson Fury opined that there was a bit of Christmas cheer in play in his defeat to boxer Oleksandr Usyk on Sunday as all three judges scored the high-profile heavyweight championship rematch 116-112 in favour of the Ukrainian in a unanimous decision in Riyadh.

The 36-year-old boxer will depart from Saudi Arabian shores with his second loss on his record sheet, added that he felt hard done by the decision, but such is the nature of boxing and he is powerless to do anything about the result now.

“Listen, it is what it is,” the Gypsy King said.

“I’m not going to cry over spilt milk, it’s happened now,” Fury added.

“I know boxing, I’ve been in it all my life — you can’t change no decisions,” the Brit clarified.

“But I feel a little bit hard done by, actually a lot,” he revealed.

“There was a little bit of Christmas spirit in there. He got a little Christmas gift,” Fury said about the decision tilting in favour of Usyk.

Fury, who called time on his career in 2022 before making a return to the ring, remained non-committal about his schedule and left queries about his possible return to the canvas with a question mark in tow.

“You might do, you might not do. Who knows?”, he added.

Fight promoter Frank Warren backed Fury’s claims and expressed that he too thought the Brit had been the better on the day. The campaigner, who required a win for the Gypsy King to bill a trilogy fight, explained that Fury would need time to decide the steps going ahead.

“That’s up to him,” Warren stated.

“I mean, it’s just after a fight. Obviously emotions are running high. We’ll see,” he said.

“It is what it is, and we’ll have to see what happens in the future for Tyson. He’ll make up his mind,” the promoter added.
