Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy lauded compatriot Oleksandr Usyk’s triumph over British boxer Tyson Fury at the high-profile heavyweight championship rematch in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

“Victory!” ZelenskyY said in a post on Telegram.
“So important and so necessary for all of us now,” he added.

Ukraine remains in war for nearly three years after Russia invaded their sovereign territory.
Zelensky opined that Usyk’s win stands as an example of the spirit of the Ukrainian people as their nation experiences tumultuous time.
“Having retained the championship belts, Oleksandr proves: we are Ukrainians and we will not give up what’s ours,” the President said.
“And no matter how difficult it is — we will win,” he explained.

He added that the people of Ukraine would fight to preserve what is rightfully theirs irrespective of the field of contention.
“Be it the ring, battlefield or diplomatic arena — we fight and we will not give up what’s ours,” Zelenskyy added.
He went on to congratulate the boxer on his second win against Fury, seven months after a similar result in the fight between the two fighters.
Usky took his record to 23-0 with 14 knockouts in his glittery career as the 37-year-old stands in possess of three of the unified titles.
“Congrats on the victory, Cossack! Congrats on the victory Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine,” Zelenskyy concluded.
